Have there been any trials in the UK?

We are always looking for interested parties who currently are not using our products and would like to participate in using our products on a trial basis on their establishment. As well as commercial trials we are looking at supporting this information with research information. The statistics below relate to broiler production trials in South Africa but we are also looking at trials with producers of either breeders or layers.

Field Results - Poultry

South African Test Results

A range of trials have been conducted at various sites within Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa where the product was originally developed and now in commercial use for over three years. In all trials both AfC Tonic and AfC Barn Spray were used in conjunction. AfC is the product name used in South Africa.

These results below are documented in line with standard performance measurement formulae, common in the poultry industry. Where:

·       Percentage mortality rates of the chicken batch (the lower the better)

·       Chicken weight measured at given days. Six weeks (or 42 days) is regarded as the maximum life span for broiler chickens.

·       Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), which is the ratio of feed, consumed to weight gained by the chickens during their life span. The lower the FCR value, the better.

Performance Efficiency Factor (PEF) is the over-riding measure of profitability used in the industry. (PEF = av. bird weight x %survivors ÷ FCR ÷ age in days)

NOTES: In all trials, the test and control houses were similar and next to each other. At one of the Midlands farms in South Africa, the test was repeated twice and test and control houses were swapped over each time. For each test, chicks were placed in both test and control houses at the same time and from the same supplier and batch.

Laboratory Results - Pathogens nipped in the Bud

Laboratory tests at the Agricultural Research Centre (ARC) on Onderstepoort, near Pretoria, South Africa have shown that by using Emvelo it can help suppress the growth of pathogenic bacteria E.coli, Colstridium botulinum and Salmonella sp.
